Read the BOWEN FAQs
Unique in the field of bodywork, The Bowen Technique is a non-invasive holistic therapy consisting of a series of gentle moves over muscles & soft tissue, interspersed with a series of short breaks that give the body time to respond to the work. These precise moves address the whole body, stimulating it to reset and heal itself. The healing occurs at all levels as needed: physical, chemical, emotional, mental, and energetic.

Sessions last from twenty minutes to an hour, and the moves can be made through light-weight clothing or directly on skin, usually with the client lying on a bodywork table, although the Bowen Technique can be applied anywhere - on the sports field, in a hospital room, at the site of an accident, on an airplane or train. Most often, surprisingly few sessions are needed to alleviate complaints, even if they are long-standing. And the results hold for a long time, generally until there is a re-injury.

The Bowen Technique is completely safe and appropriate for everyone - from newborns to the very elderly and frail.

The Reflexology Centre also works with sports clubs & teams using Bowen to treat - and more importantly, prevent - sports injuries, and has proved successful in reducing recurrent sports injuries - particularly hamstring & groin strains, shin splints, ankle sprains and lower back problems. This article from Massage World explains just how useful Bowen can be in improving player fitness and how that can positively affect success on the pitch.
